2014 USPGA Championship
The 96th renewal of the US PGA Championship was held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, from 7th - 10th August 2014. The third USPGA to be held at Valhalla was won by Rory McIlroy, who landed his fourth major title.
Lee Westwood once again raised hopes of a maiden major title but sharing the lead with Kevin Chappell and Ryan Palmer at the end of the first day, with the trio going round in 65. Rory McIlroy was just a shot further back when sharing fourth place with four other players.
McIlroy made his move on day two as he went round in 67 to move a shot clear of Jason Day and Jim Furyk. Pkil Mickelson was also in contention but he still had three shots to make up on McIlroy .
McIlroy birdied three of his last four holes to go round in 67 again on day three and he held a one stroke lead from Bernd Wiesberger after the Austrian had come up with a sensational 65. Rickie Fowler was third, two shots behind McIlroy, with Day and Mickelson a shot further back.
McIlroy completed his final round in near darkness as he racked up his second successive major win after winning the 2014 British Open. The Northern Irishman finished a stroke clear of Mickelson and two clear of Henrik Stenson and Rickie Fowler, who ended up finishing in the top-five of all four majors in 2014.
