2017 US Masters
The 81st edition of the US Masters was held at Augusta from 6th - 9th April 2017 and it will be remembered as a classic as Sergio Garcia claimed his maiden major title by beating Justin Rose in a thrilling play-off. Garcia finally claimed his first major title at the 74th attempt, having previously racked up 22 top-ten finishes in majors.
Charley Hoffman held the largest advantage after the first round of a Masters since 1955 as tjhe American was four shots clear at the close of play.
Hoffman couldn't maintain his astonishing pace on Day Two though as he produced a round of 75, meaning he was involved in a four-way tie for the lead with Sergio Garcia, Rickie Fowler and Thomas Pieters going into the weekend.
Hoffman endured a tough time of in on the closing few holes on the Saturday, leaving Garcia and Justin Rose to battle it out at the head of the leaderboard, with the pair each six-under-par going into the final day.
Garcia opened up a three shot lead by birdeying two of his first three holes but Rose wouldn't go away and the pair would go on to meet in an excellent play-off. Garcia birdied the play-off hole to become the first Spaniard to win The Masters since Jose Maria Olazabal in 1999, while Garcia's victory came in his 19th appearance at Augusta.
